 BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, the world’s largest steelmaking coal exporter, will close a berth at its Hay Point port in Queensland for more than a month to install equipment at the terminal
Berth 2 will shut from July 7 until Aug. 10 to install a fender, which 
absorbs impact or friction, according to a BHP Billiton Mitsubishi 
statement on the Inchcape Shipping Services Pty website. Inchcape 
arranges ship dockings.

Hay Point has two berths and a capacity to export 44 million metric tons
of coking coal a year, according to the North Queensland Bulk Ports 
Corp.’s website. The alliance, or BMA as it’s known, is a joint venture 
between BHP and Tokyo- based Mitsubishi Corp.
