SOCAR terminal gets a tug in the right direction

In Georgian Kulevi, a terminal owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has bought a tug to receive Aframax oil tankers. The Black Sea Terminal (BST) took into operation a multi-purpose tugboat ,which will be involved in berthing operations of Aframax tankers in its port.
The tugboat with hauling capacity of 55 tonnes has unrestricted access, and is equipped with oil pollution and fire prevention systems.
An Aframax ship is an oil tanker smaller than 120,000 tonnes deadweight (DWT) and with a breadth above 32.31m.
Aframax class tankers are largely used in the basins of the Black Sea, the North Sea, the Caribbean Sea, the China Sea and the Mediterranean.
Non-OPEC exporting countries may require the use of Aframax tankers because the harbors and canals through which these countries export their oil are too small to accommodate very-large crude carriers (VLCC) and ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs).
