zim_corporation_thumb.jpgIsrael's flag carrier Zim's East Mediterranean Express Service (EMX) and Zim Container Service (ZCS) will experience longer transit times as it introduces super slow steaming to reduce fuel costs in the coming weeks. ZIM will add an extra 4,250-TEU vessel to both services, increasing ZCS and EMX fleet size to 16 and 11 ships said UK's Transport Intelligence.
Besides fuel cost savings, reducing vessel speed will help cut down CO2 and NOx emissions.
ZCS is a round-the-world service that sails from Haifa to Piraeus, Livorno, Genoa, Tarragona, Halifax, New York, Savannah, Kingston, Panama Canal, Los Angeles, Oakland, Shenzhen (Dachan Bay), Hong Kong, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Balboa, Panama Canal, Kingston, Savannah, New York, Halifax, Tarragona and back to Haifa.
The port rotation for EMX is: Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen (Dachan Bay) Port Kelang, Colombo, Suez, Haifa, Ashdod, Izmit, Evyap P, Novorossiysk, Constanta, Ambarli, Istan, Haifa, Suez, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Port Kelang, Shenzhen (Dachan Bay), Xiamen and back to Busan.
