coal_newcastle_thumb_thumb.jpgPower-station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, a benchmark for Asia, fell 1.5 percent, declining for the first time in six weeks.
The index for coal prices at the New South Wales port fell $1.22 to $81.03 a metric ton in the week to today from $82.25 the previous week, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.
Xstrata Plc, the world’s largest supplier of power-station coal, BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group are among mining companies that ship coal through Newcastle.
