cargo_photo14.jpgChile's San Antonio port said its private operator San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI), in region V, will increase its cargo transfer capacity by 40 percent with addition of two cranes, reported Business News Americas.
Two gantry post-panamax cranes will be delivered to the port today, giving the operator a total of six gantry cranes to carry out operations.
This will allow the company to move an additional 250,000 TEUs per year.
The firm invested US$19 million in the cranes and an additional $3.5 million in complementary equipment.
The cranes are designed to operate at high speed, moving 40-50 containers/hour.
