nipponoil.jpgNippon Oil Corp., the nation’s largest oil refiner, Idemitsu Kosan Co. and Cosmo Oil Co. halted shipments by sea from refineries near Tokyo as Tropical Storm Krovanh increased its strength.  Nippon Oil halted shipments from the 340,000 barrel-a-day Negishi refinery in Yokohama, and Idemitsu stopped shipments at its 220,000 barrel-a-day unit in Chiba, company spokesmen, who declined to be named because of internal policy, said by phone from Tokyo today. Cosmo Oil stopped shipping from its 240,000 barrel-a-day Chiba refinery, Katsuhisa Maeda, a spokesman said.  Krovanh, packing winds as strong as 111 kilometers (69 miles) an hour, was 224 kilometers south of Tokyo at 8 a.m. local time, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
