xinjiang_map.jpgIt is reported that so far Xinjiang Zhundong coal field has had 200 billion tonnes of proved coal reserve. Mr Liu Chunsheng an industry insider said "We expect the coal field to have up to 390 billion tonnes of coal reserve. Zhundong basin is situated in the east of Junggar Basin and in Qitai and Jimusaer to be specific. It's about 200 kilometers away from Urumchi.” Mr Liu said they had previously handed over a geological report that the proved volume remained at 213.6 billion tonnes which is even larger than the combined proved coal reserve in the last 50 years in Xinjiang.
Zhundong basin as one of the four main coal bases in Xinjiang has now undoubtedly become China top one coal field. Calculated on the basis of the fact that China produces about 2.1 billion tonnes of coal each year, Zhundong coal field can individually meet China's coal demand for 100 years.
