China's Xinjiang Hami to build 100 mln ton coal production base

xinjiang_map_thumb_thumb.jpgChina will build a 100 million ton coal production base in Hami region, the east gate of Northwest China's Uygur Autonomous region of Xinjiang for the West-East Coal Transportation program, according to the administration of Hami region. Hami region has coal reserve estimated at 570 billion tons, taking 12.5 per cent of the national total. It has been listed as a key coal production base for the strategy of transporting coal from West to East China.
Xinjiang plans to conduct further exploration in Turpan-Hami coal base covering 130,000 sq kms with expected newly added coal reserve amounting to 80 billion tons.
