nyk_line.jpgNippon Yusen K.K. plans to build and expand port terminals for cars in India and China, Nikkei English News said, without citing anyone. The Tokyo-based shipping line will build a terminal at India’s Port of Mundra by about 2011 with a local company, the report said. The facility will allow two cargo ships to load and unload cars at the same time, and have a holding bay to park about 10,000 vehicles, the report said.
Nippon Yusen is also planning to eventually build another terminal near the Port of Chennai in India, the report said.
In China, Nippon Yusen plans to about triple capacity at its Tianjin and Shanghai car-shipping terminals, the Nikkei said. It will also consider building a facility in Guangzhou, where Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and other automakers have factories, the report said.
