MSC to offer Central America service from mid-March

Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) is starting a weekly direct service from Port Everglades, Florida to Puerto Santo Tomas De Castilla, Puerto Cortes and Puerto Limon in Central America, effective mid-March utilising two MSC vessels."This new service will give MSC shippers even more capacity and service frequency to and from key Central American ports via Port Everglades, plus access to these ports from all USA ports service via our Freeport, Bahamas hub," said Allen Clifford, executive vice president of Commercial, Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) Inc.The new service will feature a fixed-day schedule to enable shippers to plan shipments accordingly. The cut-off day in Port Everglades for Central America bound freight will be on Fridays. The MSC vessel will then arrive in Puerto Santo Tomas on Tuesdays, Puerto Cortes on Thursdays and Puerto Limon on Sundays, a company statement said.The company will continue to provide connections from the other US ports it serves through its hub in Freeport, Bahamas, as well as on-carriages to destinations in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.MSC is a privately-owned company based in Geneva and operates more than 362 container vessels with a capacity of 1.2 million TEU.
