Visakhapatnam Port expects a growth of over 150-200 percent in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) handling after the completion of the South Asia LPG cavern project (SALPG). The port handles 4- 4.5 lakh tonnes of LPG a year. The port will handle over 1.2 million tonnes when the SALPG project is completed. The project is being set up by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Totalfina of France at an investment of about Rs330 crore.
