The Russian Ministry of transport presented a project for development of ports and neighbouring special economic zones, which the Government was entrusted to prepare in May, the RBC Daily reports. According to the Acting Minister of transport Igor LEVITIN, the ministry thinks it necessary to accelerate construction of container terminals in Russian ports. In particular, the ministry proposes to increase the container terminal capacities in Ust-Luga to 3 mln TEU a year, at the Vostochnyi port (Nakhodka) to 5 mln TEU, in Novorossiysk to 2 mln TEU, and in Baltiysk to 3,5 mln TEU. This will increase the container traffic up to 15 mln TEU.
