Vostochnaya Stevedore Limited Liability Company (VSC, Vostochny Port) will invest $250 million into container transshipment via Vostochny Port, the company's Director General John Skorties told journalists according to PrimaMedia. Asian transit should be attracted to the southern ports of Primorye," he said. At the meeting with journalists Mr. Skorties told that the rise of tariffs for railway transshipment of containers in 2006 caused decrease of transit container traffic at Transsib, hence resulting in lower throughput of Vostochny Port. According to Mr. Skorties, VSC is ready to give the 30% percent discount for transit cargoes. "In 10 years the port’s throughput should be raised to 2.2 million TEU. Before introduction of new tariff rates it was 300,000 TEU (in 2005), while in 2006 it fell to 294,000 TEU.Vostochnaya Stevedore LLC specializes in transshipment of container cargo. It was founded in 2004. The company provides a complete rage of stevedoring and warehousing services, including storage of refrigerator containers, container repair and security. The company is under shared management of DP World and Severstaltrans groups.
