Revised GSO data showed that the figure would represent a 18.1% rise from 3.60 million tonnes produced in March 2008. Vietnam is estimated to have exported 2.6 million tonnes of coal valued at USD 156 million in April, down by 7.3% in volume terms but up 92.6% in value.
The GSO said that electricity output in April is projected to have risen 13.8% on year to 6.0 billion kilowatt hours. In March, Vietnam produced 6.3 billion kWh of electricity.
The GSO usually issues coal and electricity figures before the end of the reporting period, based on estimates.
